Kylian Mbappe wins the Golden Boot at the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 Golden Boot battle has heated up in Qatar. The mercurial tournament features the finest footballers from all around the world, including legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Only Harry Kane and Thomas Muller from the current roster have ever claimed the Golden Boot, which is given to the season's highest goal scorer. Kane scored six goals in Russia, while Muller scored five goals in South Africa. The Golden Boot has never been won twice by one player.

With 16 goals, German superstar Miroslav Klose leads all scorers in FIFA World Cup history. Thomas Muller, a fellow German, is the active player with the most goals (10).

The top international goal scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, scored from the penalty spot against Ghana in Portugal's season-opening game to become the only male player to score in five straight FIFA World Cups.

Enner Valencia of Ecuador started the competition for this edition's leading goal scorer by scoring twice against Qatar in the tournament's opening match. Teammates at Paris Saint-Germain Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, as well as Olivier Giroud, who earlier in the tournament became France's top scorer in all competitions after scoring a double against Poland, are all contenders for the Golden Boot at the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Top scorers from the 2022 World Cup include Kylian Mbappe, who finished the campaign with a hat-trick and won the Golden Boot.

Kylian Mbappe of France has been named the Golden Boot winner for the World Cup 2022 after a sensational performance in the championship game.

He and Lionel Messi of Argentina both had five goals into the championship game. Messi himself scored two goals, but Mbappe scored the first hat-trick in a championship final since 1966 to claim the prize for himself.

He joins the list of top scorers from each World Cup and even vaults himself onto the list of top scorers from all World Cups.
Some of the best players to ever step foot on a football pitch top scorer have won the Golden Boot, one of the most coveted awards in international sport. Guillermo Stabile, who led Uruguay to victory in the inaugural World Cup in 1930, was the first winner of the award. Other notable winners include Thomas Muller in 2010 and Salvatore Schillaci in Italia 90.
In the past, two Englishmen top scorer have even shared the honour; in Mexico in 1986, Gary Lineker's six goals proved unstoppable despite England's loss in the quarterfinals. World Cup 2022 Harry Kane, who scored five goals in Russia in 2018 but just two goals in 2022, is the current record holder.
